There are a number of ways to connect with the mission and vision of Asbury UMC through various service opportunities, special events, and missions projects. Below, you will find some of the current announcements and a calendar of events for things going on in and through the ministry of Asbury.

  • We're Hiring! Children's Ministry Director

    Asbury UMC is seeking a passionate, creative leader to help kids experience God’s love and grow in faith! The Director of Children’s Ministries will guide our children’s programs, support families, and lead amazing volunteers in creating fun, Christ-centered experiences – from Sunday mornings to engaging events. 


    If you love building relationships, nurturing young hearts, and helping families grow together in faith, we’d love to meet you!

    •  Full-time, exempt position—30 hours per week
    •  Reports to Director of Next Generation Ministries

  • youth collecting for hungry hearts

    The Asbury Youth are collecting shelf stable breakfasts and snacks for kids for Hungry Hearts. You are invited to partner with the students in collecting these items. Some examples include: Mini Muffins (pre-packaged); Granola Bars, Dried Fruit, Applesauce Pouches; Trail Mix; Whole-grain Crackers or Goldfish; Pop-Tarts or toaster Pastries; 100% Juice Boxes; and Flavored Water Pouches. Full list of items. Please place items in the shopping cart outside Emily’s Office (Room 001) by November 19. 

     

  • Asbury Leadership Team Applications

    Asbury's Leadership Team is accepting applications from anyone wanting to join the team beginning in January, 2026. You can learn more about the Asbury Leadership Team here and the application can be downloaded here. You must be an Asbury member to serve, and applications are due on Thursday, November 20.     Join us on Wednesday, November 19 from 5:15-6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall for a meal for the whole family to enjoy! For a free-will donation, let Asbury take meal planning off your plate and put it into our kitchen! Bring the kids and join us! Menu: Barbecue Sandwiches

  • "Mental health according to paul" - Rev. Dr. Joel Allen to preach

    Sunday, November 23, 8:00, 9:15 and 11:00 a.m. Invite a friend to worship with us as Rev. Dr. Joel Allen will share the message, “Mental Health According to Paul” based on Philippians 4:1-9. Joel is the Director of the McGovern Center and Professor of Religion and Philosophy at Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell, SD. Joel will bring along a unique Bible – the last volume of the St. John’s Bible which includes the letters of Paul. The St. John’s Bible is the first completely handwritten and illuminated Bible to be commissioned since the invention of the printing press. DWU is the owner of a limited Heritage Edition of the St. John’s Bible. Invite a friend to experience this work of art – this Word of God.

     

  • All Church Charge Conference

    Asbury's 2025 All-Church Charge Conference will be held on Sunday, November 23 in the Asbury Sanctuary. It will facilitated by District Superintendent Brandon Vetter. A copy of the Charge Conference report will be linked once it is finished and a copy of the video will be available on both the Asbury Facebook Campus and Asbury's Vimeo page after the event.

    Come make Plarn Sleeping Mats for Midwest Mission Distribution Center (MMDC). Plarn is plastic yarn made out of plastic grocery bags. The Sleeping Mats are sent internationally and locally. They are great for those who need a barrier between them and the hard ground. They have been sent for disaster relief, for the homeless, and for those who need temporary sleeping arrangements. Please sign up in the Mission Room (Room 005). Questions? Please contact Rennae at 605-261-2998.

  • Caring Connections - A Fellowship Group for women

    Caring Connections - Fellowship for Women of All Ages meets in the Asbury Library from 10:15-11:00 a.m. If you've never joined us, consider checking it out! As always, no preparation, drop in when you are able, fellowship group vs Bible Study vibe, no outside group commitments. Just a casual group of women gathering around the table sharing life, developing relationships and growing together in faith. Join us, there is always room around the table! Leaders: Judy Hines, Mary Millikan, Dawn Rice, Barb Roozen and Bonnie Shinn

     

  • Room 106 Adult Group

    Room 106 Adult Group will begin the year with a couple lessons called “Why? Because I Said So!” by Lloyd Petersen. The group will pick a book study together to finish out September. Please join us in Room 106 from 10:15-11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

     

  • Small Group Mondays

    Join us on Mondays as we study the book "Taste and See: Discovering God Among Butchers, Bakers & Fresh Food Makers" by Margaret Feinberg. Books are available for purchase in the office. The group meets on Mondays from 10:15-11:30 a.m. in Room 106.

  • By My WOrks

    All men are invited to join By My Works for breakfast and fellowship. The group will meet on Saturday, December 6 at 8:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

     

  • Comforters

    Please join us on Wednesday, December 10, at 9:30 a.m. in Room 005. We will be cutting, putting together, sewing, and tying small flannel baby quilts that will be sent to the Tree of Life in Mission, SD. We will meet again on January 14. All are welcome. 

  • Asbury Facebook campus

    We're excited to invite you to join Asbury's Facebook Campus, Asbury's primary hub for online ministry, where you will find things like staff check-ins, Wednesday Worship, volunteer resources, Bible studies, and much, much more.

    There are a number of ways to experience life-change with Christ by serving others at Asbury by getting involved in one of Asbury's Ministry Teams! Opportunities involve hospitality ministries such as ushers and greeters, music ministries, discipleship ministries, digital ministries, online service hosts, and more.
