There are a number of ways to connect with the mission and vision of Asbury UMC through various service opportunities, special events, and missions projects. Below, you will find some of the current announcements and a calendar of events for things going on in and through the ministry of Asbury.

To find out more about what is happening at Asbury, see the full weekly announcement sheet here!

  • Asbury online campus

We're excited to invite you to join Asbury's Facebook Campus, developed by our Digital Ministries Team to serve as Asbury's primary hub for online ministry. While online services and outreach efforts will continue to be found on the existing Facebook page, the Asbury Facebook group will contain things like staff check-ins, Wednesday Worship, volunteer resources, Bible studies, and much, much more.

Joining the Asbury Facebook Campus will ensure that you encounter opportunities to experience life-change with Christ by loving and accepting all, nurturing your discipleship, and serving others with more consistency online. We are excited to further develop this new space for ministry! Join the Asbury Facebook Campus here!

  • Asbury Film Festival

Join us for the Asbury Film Festival series where we look for the activity of God in a variety of movies. Here are the movies we'll be featuring this summer:

July 11- Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

    July 18- Frozen II

July 25- A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

    August 1- Soul

    August 8- The Aeronauts

    August 15- What About Bob?

Each week we will show the movie of the week on Wednesday nights at 6:30 in the Asbury Sanctuary with popcorn and drinks, so make your plans to join us and invite your friends. After watching the movie during the week, Sunday's message will explore the different themes the movie presents as we explore how they relate to the Bible and the principles of the Kingdom of God. We're looking forward to seeing you at the movies this summer!

Miss any of the messages in the Asbury Film Festival series? You can find them in our Message Archives!

  • UMCOR school  Kits

Our August mission project is school kits for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). School kits contain basic supplies including paper, notebooks, crayons, pencils, eraser, folders and pencil sharpener. If you’d like to purchases these items, pick up a school bag (with shopping list enclosed) from the table outside the sanctuary) or give a gift of $10 and we’ll do the shopping for you!

  • Asbury Farmer's Market

Looking for a zucchini or cucumber - or have too many to eat? Stop by the Farmer’s Market (in the Hospitality Room) on Sunday mornings, leave your extra produce or pick up what you need and leave a freewill donation. All proceeds will benefit 23 UMCOR hunger and poverty programs around the world. Approximately 842 million people are estimated to be suffering from food insecurity or chronic hunger, regularly not getting enough nutritious food to maintain a healthy and active life. Help solve this problem with your generous donation!

  • samaritan's feet

In August we will partner with Samaritan’s Feet to provide new shoes for children in Sioux Falls. Samaritan’s Feet believes that a new pair shoes and the act of foot-washing can provide a tangible foundation of hope and the opportunity for a better life and prompt children to focus in school.

Samaritan’s Feet Back To School Shoe Distribution: Saturday, August 21, 2021. Follow the link to register for shoes. You will be taken to a form to input shoe recipient’s info. New this year, you can elect to receive your shoes via Door Dash or drive-through at First United Methodist Church (401 S Spring Ave, Sioux Falls, SD). We have expanded to serve students in Pre-K through 12th grade. For additional information or help with the registration form, please call the Helpline Center at 211. Deadline to sign up for shoes is August 7. Watch for more information to volunteer for Samaritan’s Feet shoe distribution on August 21.

Join us either in-person or online on Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. for Worship Wednesday for a time of prayer, music, and a God story from a member or friend of Asbury. For those joining online, the service will be available on the Asbury Facebook Campus.
