On Sunday, July 1, we will begin our summer “God at the Movies” series. We are going to look at practical life lessons and Biblical principles through the lens of five films. Most of the movies are from 2017-18. One is a fun, summer film that is now 25 years old – “The Sandlot”. Pastor Matt will preach on Sundays, July 15 and 22. I will preach on July 1, 8 and 29.
July 1 – “Wonder” (PG)
July 8 – “The Sandlot” (PG)
July 15 – “The Greatest Showman” (PG)
July 22 – “Black Panther” (PG-13)
July 29 – “Coco” (PG)
It is not necessary, but you might want to view the movies prior to each Sunday. But, pay attention to the ratings. Not all the movies are appropriate for children – and some adults may find some of the language, violence and situations offensive. View at your discretion.
We will show each movie on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. prior to our Sunday sermon. One exception will be when Wednesday falls on the 4th of July. We will view the film on Thursday, July 5 at 7:05 p.m.
June 27 – “Wonder” (PG)
July 5 – “The Sandlot” (PG)
July 11 – “The Greatest Showman” (PG)
July 18 – “Black Panther” (PG-13)
July 25 – “Coco” (PG)
Popcorn will be provided FREE. Pop will be available for a donation to provide shoes to children in the Sioux Falls area through Samaritan’s Feet.
Why movies? Movies have a way of communicating unlike any other art form. In them, we find some powerful, provocative, touching stories of human life. And whether filmmakers know it or not, God’s fingerprints can be found all over their stories. God is everywhere! So, we’ll take a few films and look at how we can find God at the movies.
See you at the movies! See you at worship! It could make an impact on your life. This is a great opportunity to extend an invitation to a friend or neighbor!
Bring a friend!
